Types of Heavy Equipment For Construction
On construction, renovation, development, demolition, or public engineering sites, construction machinery occupies a leading position in tools due to its functionality and the many advantages it brings in terms of productivity.

Excavators
An excavator (hydraulic) is a piece of heavy construction equipment consisting of a boom, bucket or stick, dipper and cab, all on a revolving platform called a “house”. The house sits on a chassis with tracks or wheels. They are the natural development of steam shovels and are often mistakenly called power shovels.
Excavators are also called backhoes, mechanical shovels or 360 degree excavators. Sometimes shortened to “360”. Tracked excavators are sometimes called “crawler excavators” and are similar to backhoes.
Bulldozers
Bulldozers are large, powerful, tracked heavy equipment. The tracks give them excellent ground-gripping capabilities and maneuverability in rough terrain. Wide tracks help spread the weight of the bulldozer over a larger area (lowering ground pressure), thus preventing it from sinking into sandy or muddy ground. Extra-wide tracks are called swamp tracks or LGP (low ground pressure) tracks.
Paving Machines
A paver, also known as a paver, asphalt spreader, or road paving machine, is a piece of construction equipment used to lay asphalt on roads, bridges, parking lots, etc. The paver spreads the asphalt flat and compacts it lightly before compacting it with a roller.
Scraper
Construction machine: Scraper
It is the most representative machine of major earthworks. It allows to extract and transport loose materials at medium distance. Working like an extraction planer, it has a loading box with a drawer that penetrates the ground and level it.
Most scraper models require when loading assistance of a push bulldozer. The latter provides the energy required to extract the material. And it should be noted that the scrapers allow to obtain better returns than the excavators loading dumpers.
Loaders
A loader, also known as a front-end loader, is used in construction, mining, agriculture, and other industries. It is designed to lift and transport large quantities of materials, such as soil, sand, gravel, rocks, and debris.
A loader typically consists of a large, powerful engine and a hydraulically operated arm with a large bucket at the end. The operator sits in a cab located above the engine and controls the machine’s movements and functions using a series of levers, pedals, and switches.
Dump truck
Dump trucks – are large pieces of equipment used to transport large quantities of loose materials, including soil, sand, ore, gravel, and demolition debris, between mining, civil engineering, and large construction sites. If you need to transport loose materials, you will almost certainly need a dump truck for your next construction or mining job. Rigid rear dump trucks and articulated dump trucks are two types of rental dump trucks.
Telehandlers
Telehandlers are an ergonomic and safe solution for handling and transporting all types of materials outdoors. Compact, versatile and powerful, they are designed to handle large and heavy loads and can easily adapt to the most challenging and steepest terrains.
